Arkhipov Laboratories have based their range of external DAC designs more often on multibit converters such as:
the famous Burr-Brown/Texas Instruments series PCM63, PCM1702, PCM56
Philips TDA1541 and,
Analog Devices AD1861
All these devices have a well deserved reputation of being the best types in their class. They are prized by many audiophiles for their musicality, clarity of reproduction and detail resembling single-bit Sigma-Delta converters.
The analog output sections of most of our DACs comprise a twin triode electron tubes driving toroidal output transformers having amorphous cobalt cores. DACs in our budget range employ MOSFET output stages.
Our range of DACs can be supplied with optional external power supply blocks. Each power supply uses an electron tube rectifier (high quality 6X5) and two toroidal power transformers which feed the digital & analog sections of the units separately.
The purchaser also has the option of including a range of contemporary asynchronous USB and Ethernet modules such as Engineered SA (ex Edel USB & Edel NMR), Bolero, WaveIO etc.
